Sunday, January 6th, 2013

I got up and started my day with Dan as he got ready for work. I made him lunch to take with him while he got ready.  Once he was on his way I got my day started.

Did my usual daily things...took my medicine, took my blood pressure - which actually was pretty good this morning.  Finished getting ready and went to the gym about 9:30am.  The gym was busy but not very crowded which is always good.  I decided that this week I would try to work on the same things each day I go this week for a little consistency.  Then next week do the same machines but in a different order, plus adding a new one.  Then do that for the week.  We'll see how that goes.

Today it was in the 80's.  Wasn't overly bright but it was sunny at least most of the day.  Right now it is 77 degrees out and is a little rainy, and the forecast for the week looks like it is going to be all over the place - up and down.  Tomorrow is supposed to be a high of 66 but then on Tuesday it is supposed to be 81.

After the gym I stopped by Publix to cash in the 2 scratch off lottery tickets that were winners.... total of $7.  I bought this week's lottery tickets for Wednesday's powerball drawing and got a few groceries.

I did a few things around the house... not nearly as busy as last weekend... but got kitty's litter box all cleaned out and started some laundry.  I went over to Pat's for a little while to see how she was doing.  I hadn't seen her to talk to her since before Thanksgiving.

Now making dinner so that it is ready for when Dan gets home from work.  I'm tired.

Saturday, January 5th, 2013

Ahhh!   I love my day's off.   Today the weather was nice, was a little cloudy early this morning but brightened up.  It was 66 degrees and a nice Florida winter's day.  This week went by so fast.  Here it is already time to start week 2 of 2013.  It's crazy.  All of the Christmas decorations are down and packed away at the house.  I managed to get all the rest of the stuff down on New Year's Day while Dan was at work.  I watched the Rose Parade (or at least it was on the tv while I worked).  It is always sad to take it all down, but I know that they way time goes by so fast, it will be here again before ya know it.

Wednesday (the 2nd) I took a personal floating holiday so that I could go to the eye doctor.  Had my appointment at 10:30 that morning.  Got the exam and ordered my new glasses so got that taken care of first thing this year.   I'm looking forward to my new glasses with the new frames.  They should arrive in a couple of weeks.

Went back to work on Thursday and Friday.....yippee.  But that's how it goes.

Today Dan and I went to the gym this morning which is great.  I enjoy going to the gym honestly.  I always feel a sense of accomplishment afterwards and I know that it helps me to feel better eventually will help me to look better.

After showering and changing at the gym, we headed back to the house for some left over pizza for lunch and then headed to City Walk to go to the movies.  Dan has been wanting to go see Les Miserables ever since it came out Christmas Day.  So we headed down to Universal and met Gavin and the 3 of us went to the movie.  The movie was good, however it was way too long.  3 hours is just too much to sit in a movie theater and to sit and watch a movie that is soooooo heavy.  There really isn't any happiness, comedy, fun, or laughter in this movie/musical.  But we saw it and it made Dan happy so, yay.  Plus got to see Gavin for a little bit, and he got us a jar candle for Christmas which was sweet of him.

Then it was back home.  Stopped at Checker's for fast food for dinner.....

Now it's time to lay on the couch, watch tv, catch up on facebook, and sync my phone and to my music on itunes.

New Year's Eve 2012

My whole life New Year's Eve was never really celebrated in a big way.  Of course our family wished loved ones all the best for the coming year, but the extent of our celebrating usually simply consisted of staying in and watching tv.  Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve was typically the show of choice to ring in the new year.

This year on December 31st of 2012, a Monday, I used a vacation day so I could have the day off.  Dan was schedued to work at the studios for his normal shift, but since he had been feeling sick over the weekend he called in sick for his shift.  Although I hate that he didn't feel well, I was however glad that he was home with me all day.  He had called in sick on Sunday as well.

I started taking down all of our Christmas decorations over the weekend. Since Dan didn't feel well, it was just me taking stuff down and packing it all away.  Even though it can be a whole lot of work I don't mind since I enjoy all the holiday stuff, and that is part of it.  Saturday I started getting things ready for the giant process by moving things around in the garage, then on Sunday after getting day put to bed to rest and with his medicine, I worked on taking down all the decorations from outside.  I spent the whole day working on it and was able to get all that stuff down and into the garage.

So Monday (Dec. 31st) I was able to work on getting things taken down inside the house and working on packing things away.  Sure was a busy day.

As for ringing in the new year?  We watched tv after dinner at the house.  We went to bed before the "ball dropped" so we didn't see the clock strick 12, but that's okay.

Swimmingl... studying for classes... and hangin' at Universal Studios

Today has been a fantastic day off this fine day, June 11, 2011.

Starting out the day with being able to sleep in, and physically be able to lie in my bed was amazing.  The unique feeling one gets when able to experience your soft and cozy bed blankets, sheets, pillows, and bed clothes.  So the simple act of remaining in bed is wonderful.

Kitty though, always on the ever vigual stand to make sure that I am not late for work, arrives bed side to assist me in waking up.  Someday soon I hope to teach her the differnece between one day and an other one.  But kitty alsways means well of course.

Up and about took Dan and I on a quick trip toTarget for a few minor items and soon headed back to the house.  Then it was outside to the back yard for some time in the swimming pool.  The pool was so relaxing, and the water felt fantastic.

I managed to the urge to get the stuff finally hung up, so I took some time and got them up on the walls.  Last week we stopped by Old Time Pottery and found several items that we liked so be bouth them to put on display at the backyard the backyard themed to the pool.

After a little TV, we cleaned up and headed over to Universal Studios for a few hours.  The singing group called the GO-GO's appeared on stage there tonight and I really wanted to go to see them perform.  We rode a couple of the attractions, got dinner there at Mel's Diner, and then walked through a couple of shops.

It was a good day

First Class…DONE!

Today I completed my final assignments for first OU Class!  So far I have managed to get A’s on each of the writing assignments so it has been "so far so good”, so I am hopeful to continue with my success rate.

Now that my Travel and Tourism class assignments are complete, I can move onto concentrating on my next class.  This one is a business professionals English for Careers class and the final grade is the actual grade on the one and only exam I have to take.  Yikes!  So if all goes according to plan, I will go through the information in the text book, do some reviewing and then take the exam on the OU campus while I am home this July.  The exam has to be taken so that it can be proctored so rather than trying to figure out an accredited location that I am comfortable with somewhere here in Florida, I want to take it on the Athens Campus.

Anyway, I’m pretty happy and pretty proud of myself so far.  It’s been 20 years since I was a fulltime student at OU, and it has been kind of fun being a college student again.

A Nice Wednesday Day

I love the days that I do not have to go to work, I don’t have to be at any doctor appointment, I don’t have any where that I have to be, just to have the day off and do whatever it is that I want to do.

Today has been a nice day.  A little productive but has also been a little relaxing too.  Being able to do the things that I enjoy, although some of them are quite the chore, because I enjoy doing them, they are not chores at all.

I got up around 9 this morning, I laid in bed for about 15 minutes thinking about if there happened to be anything that I was supposed to do.  Since I couldn’t remember having any pressing appointments I decided to roll out of bed.  Teddy and kitty cat were on the bed with me so that was nice to wakeup to.  I got ready and headed out for a few errands.  I stopped by Chik-Fil-A for a chicken mini and sweet tea, then made my way over to Payless Shoes.  I got a 20% off coupon in the mail yesterday and since my flip flop shoes that Lucas brought me from Brazil are falling apart (the dumb toe thong thingy keeps popping out of the hole in the sole of the show) so that it was a good idea to take a look-see.  I found a nice pair on sale and since it was buy one get one half price, I got a much needed belt too.  So I got a pretty decent deal for 2 things I needed.

Next up, a hair cut.  I didn’t want one.  But I know that it was beyond time and with the hair police alive and well at the wonderful world of Disney, it would only be a matter of time before some douche bag told me to get a hair cut.  Not that my hair was getting crazy but it was on my ears, touching my collar, all the horrific sins that only Disney World can cry about.  So I got my hair cut but only trimmed mind you.  It is my goal to grow my hair out as best I can over this next year.  Still falling in line like a good little brain-washed cast member and getting it trimmed whenever it grows itself to the verge of “crossing the line” or collar as it were.  I know I shouldn’t complain, especially since my hair has a tendency to grow into Bozo the Clown air on the sides if I let it get too out of control.  Lord, I have had such horrible hair my entire life…cursed with naturally curly hair but more to the point, curly because of COW LICKS everywhere.  Do you know that I even have cow licks on my facial hair too?  Yup, my left side chin area next to the corner of my mouth.  Look closely and you will undoubtedly will see a chewed up mess in that spot some mornings.

Hair cut.  Check.

Next a quick stop at Target to pick up a few items.  Not very much but still managed to be $45 bucks.  What the hell.

Finally at home I worked a little on the computer, not really worked more like played on the computer, then got out the sewing stuff and worked on making some costume stuff for the show.  Listen to 80’s music on the cable tv music stations and sewing away.  Has been a nice day.

Later after Dan gets home from work we will be having dinner with Brian and Kathleen!  Applebee’s down at Lake Buena Vista.

Gotta Love A Garage Sale

Today was a neighborhood garage sale here in good ole Daniels Crossing.  Set up by the homeowner’s association, everyone was encouraged to clean out the garages and closets and be a part of the selling madness.

Officially the sale was from 7am to 1pm but Dan and I didn’t get up with the chickens to get started that early.  Instead we got up around 7:30 this morning and headed out to set out of modest 2 tables worth of stuff.

When I opened the garage door this morning….it was crazy out there.  Mike, the neighbor 3 houses west of ours, had quite the inventory sitting out in front of his house.  He is always having yard sales it seems like one every month so he was in hog heaven today.  At any rate, he had such the spread, that people were swarming around the corner.  Too bad his house is literally on the corner, in the turn.  Cars were blocking the road on more than one occasion so we saw about 3 different rumbles almost happen.  One lady was so pissed off that she actually got out of her car, went over to the other car, opened their passenger side door and scream cuss words at the car load of them.  Then as our luck goes, once the bottle neck was cleared out, she stopped at OUR HOUSE to shop.  EEEEEEEK!  But I have to say, that I was able to talk her off the ledge.  Haha… perhaps I turned her day around.

So after about 2 hours, we had sold off most of the stuff that we wanted to part with so we cleaned up and called it day.  All in all, minus the change we had on hand to make change, we made $215.  Not too shabby for 2 hours worth of “work”.  I love garage sales.
