New Year's Eve 2012
My whole life New Year's Eve was never really celebrated in a big way. Of course our family wished loved ones all the best for the coming year, but the extent of our celebrating usually simply consisted of staying in and watching tv. Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve was typically the show of choice to ring in the new year.
This year on December 31st of 2012, a Monday, I used a vacation day so I could have the day off. Dan was schedued to work at the studios for his normal shift, but since he had been feeling sick over the weekend he called in sick for his shift. Although I hate that he didn't feel well, I was however glad that he was home with me all day. He had called in sick on Sunday as well.
I started taking down all of our Christmas decorations over the weekend. Since Dan didn't feel well, it was just me taking stuff down and packing it all away. Even though it can be a whole lot of work I don't mind since I enjoy all the holiday stuff, and that is part of it. Saturday I started getting things ready for the giant process by moving things around in the garage, then on Sunday after getting day put to bed to rest and with his medicine, I worked on taking down all the decorations from outside. I spent the whole day working on it and was able to get all that stuff down and into the garage.
So Monday (Dec. 31st) I was able to work on getting things taken down inside the house and working on packing things away. Sure was a busy day.
As for ringing in the new year? We watched tv after dinner at the house. We went to bed before the "ball dropped" so we didn't see the clock strick 12, but that's okay.
